I have always been fascinated by the basic primal motivations and needs that drive animals and man. The people and creatures in the Animal-X Trilogy are extraordinary creations rooted in evolutionary biology and current realities that are motivated by these basic drives on a mega scale. Their behaviors reflect society, cultures, religion, politics, life, and struggles to survive and meet our needs. Not the least of which are food, shelter, sex, and power.
These elements are woven together in multiple overlapping storylines with a creativity that surpasses anything I have experienced. However, while as creative as the stories and events are, there is an element of reality that underlies everything that makes you think this is not too far from what has occurred in the history of our world or could still happen. This is especially true considering the events of the last two years, the political battles, and circumstances occurring in Washington, like January 6.
However, what intrigued me was that the different characters and creatures had me thinking I know that person or animal who would have those needs, characteristics, behaviors, or do that. It might be someone at work, school, on a sports team, in your family, a politician, or a public figure. It might be a vicious dog, a wild horse, an evil neighborhood cat, a combative rooster, or wildlife you have encountered.
The storylines weave the characters, creatures, and events together with culture, religion, society, politics, and interpersonal relationships. This is done in a highly creative and imaginative style with results that are often like life as we know it. The results are hilariously funny and had me laughing long and hard. The characters and creatures you loved in previous stories reappear when you least expect them. One story leads into the next one, two or three, in a manner that makes it hard to put the book down. When I finished a book, the first thing I did was call the author and ask him when the next one would be ready to publish. You will be amazed by the creativity, intrigue, and humor in these books and not regret reading them.
